Quiet Day

A Mission Area Quiet Day has been arranged for Monday 6th November 9.30 - 3.30 at St Beuno's Spirituality Centre at Tremeirchion.  Members of the Diocesan Spirituality Team will be leading participants in some of the spiritual exercises introduced by Mark Yaconelli during his residency as Diocesan Missioner last year. 

This is a great opportunity to learn and develop practices which will help you deepen your spiritual life. 

The cost of the day is £20 which includes lunch and tea and coffee during the day. Places are limited and can be booked through Colin Mansley - colin@archangel.clara.co.uk or phone 01745 730584.

SING FOR ADVENT

Why not come along to St. Mary's, Denbigh on Saturday, 18th November from 2-4pm and learn and sing some Advent Carols. There will be an afternoon tea on offer to all who come along!

Woodland Trust Tree of the Year - Wales

The Pulpit Yew Tree at St James Church Nantglyn has been nominated as one of six trees in Wales for the Tree of the Year award.

The winning tree will benefit from a Tree Care award of £1,000, with any runner-up trees receiving 1000 separate votes or more, subject to the eligibility criteria , a £500 Tree Care Award. The award can be used to arrange a health check from an arboriculturalist, provide interpretation or educational materials or simply just hold a community celebratory event in honour of the tree.

“The beautiful church of St James in Nantglyn dates back at about 700 years, but in its churchyard stands something even older, a yew tree believed to be around 1,500 years old. The hollowed trunk of this ancient Yew has been converted into an out-door pulpit from which many a sermon has been preached - including one, rumour has it, by the founder of the Methodist Church, John Wesley. Local Welsh slate has been used to craft some steps leading to a seat and podium at the top which over-looks the surrounding churchyard. Despite the modifications, The Pulpit Yew remains in excellent health and is a shining - if extreme - example of the recognised association between yew trees and places of worship.” (www.woodlandtrust.org.uk)

INTERCESSIONS WORKSHOP  -  at St. Mary's Church, Denbigh, Saturday, September 16th, 2017 from 9.30am - 12noon. For all who lead or would like to lead Intercessions (prayers) in Worship.

CHORAL CONCERT in ST. MARY's DENBIGH

Next Saturday, September 2nd at 7.30pm, there will be a performance of Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas' in St. Mary's Church, Denbigh. Entry is £10.00 at the door. The Conductor is John Hoskins. Do come along and bring a friend.

PILGRIMAGE!

A very hot and exhausted Lay Reader arrived at Llansannan and promptly downed a bottle of water and 2 cups of black coffee! Even after getting home I hadn't re-hydrated and began the process all over again, BUT it was worth it especially when I discovered I had completed 17,000 steps!  The service of Evensong was lovely and I was pleased to note that I remembered almost all of it from my youth in St. Thomas's, Pendleton.

P.S. I'm the one in the middle with legs!!

Mission Area Pilgrimage

On Sunday 2^nd July Denbigh Mission Area joined with Aled Mission Area for a pilgrimage from Llannefydd to Llansannan. The Pilgrimage started with a time of prayer in St Nefydd’s Church before beginning the five-mile walk along the Pilgrim’s Way to Llansannan. The walk began from the back of the Church and after the initial steep climb the route levelled out along the Pilgrim’s Way. The views of Coast and Country were stunning. The walk took a couple of hours and cup of tea and a piece of cake was most welcome when the walkers finally arrived at St Sannan’s Church.  Llannefydd’s Mission Area Candle was carried from Llannefydd to Llansannan and lit at the start of the closing service as a sign of fellowship and unity. The walkers were joined by members of both Mission Areas for the refreshments and a service of Sung Evensong. Everyone enjoyed the day, the stunning scenery along the way, the company of fellow travellers and time to worship together at the close of day.
